Everything runs in your browser. Your content never leaves your device.
How to Use This Generator
Type your questions and answers into the form above and this tool builds the exact JSON-LD block Google expects, with escaping and structure handled for you. One click copies it, ready to paste into your page.
Add each question and its answer. The form starts with two pairs; click "Add another question" for more. Keep answers concise and self-contained, since Google may show them directly in search results.
Optionally enter the page URL where this FAQ appears. It is added as the schema's url property, which helps tie the markup to the canonical page.
Click Generate Schema. Review the validation checklist: every check should be green before you publish.
Copy the code and paste it into your page HTML, inside the head section or before the closing body tag.
Test with Google's Rich Results Test to confirm the page is eligible for FAQ rich results.
What FAQ Schema Looks Like
That is the entire structure: an FAQPage containing a list of Question objects, each with an acceptedAnswer. Google reads the JSON-LD block and matches it against the visible text on your page. The questions should be phrased the way real people ask them, and each answer should stand alone, because searchers may read the answer in Google without ever visiting your page. Write answers that satisfy the question fully in two to four sentences.
Worked Example
Say you run a coffee shop and your contact page answers two common questions. Pair 1: "What are your opening hours?" / "We are open Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm, and on weekends from 8am to 5pm." Pair 2: "Do you offer dairy-free milk alternatives?" / "Yes. Oat, almond, and soy milk are available in every drink at no extra charge." Paste those into the generator and you get:
All six validation checks pass: valid JSON, the schema.org context, the FAQPage type, both questions carrying an acceptedAnswer, no empty fields, and a reminder that the same text must be visible on the page. Paste it into the contact page, run the Rich Results Test, and the page is eligible for FAQ rich results.
Google's Rules for FAQ Rich Results
FAQ schema only works when the questions are visible on the page and written by the site itself, not by users. That means it fits FAQ sections, product pages, and service pages, but not forums or comment sections where users post the questions (those use QAPage markup instead). Google also forbids using FAQ markup for advertising purposes: do not mark up promotional questions like "Why is our product the best?" with sales copy as the answer. Each question should address a genuine information need, and the answer should be factual and complete. When in doubt, read Google's search gallery documentation for FAQ before publishing. Schema never replaces good content; it only helps Google understand content that is already good. Everything you type into this generator stays in your browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is FAQ schema?
FAQ schema is structured data markup, written in JSON-LD, that tells Google a page contains a list of questions and answers. When Google understands your Q&A content, the page becomes eligible for FAQ rich results in search, where the questions can appear directly under your listing. The markup itself is invisible to visitors; it only speaks to search engines.
Will FAQ schema guarantee rich results?
No. Adding FAQPage markup only makes the page eligible for FAQ rich results; Google decides whether to show them. Google weighs factors like the page's overall quality, relevance to the query, and whether the Q&A follows its guidelines. Think of schema as removing a barrier, not buying a placement.
Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?
Paste the generated <script type="application/ld+json"> block anywhere in your page's HTML. The most common spots are inside the <head> section or just before the closing </body> tag. JSON-LD never affects how the page looks, so placement is purely organizational. In WordPress, you can add it with a code-snippets plugin or your SEO plugin's custom schema field.
Can I use FAQ schema on any page?
Only on pages where the questions and answers are actually visible to users. Google's rule is strict: markup must match visible content. Adding FAQ schema for content hidden behind a login, or writing Q&A in the markup that never appears on the page, can trigger a manual action against the site. If users cannot read it, do not mark it up.
How do I test my schema?
Use Google's free Rich Results Test at search.google.com/test/rich-results. Paste your page URL after publishing, or paste the code snippet directly before publishing. It reports whether the FAQPage markup is valid and eligible. For deeper debugging, the Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org checks the JSON-LD against the Schema.org vocabulary.
